What to expect: Guests leave busy Park Lane and enter the spacious, wood-panelled lobby area, with its ornate marble floor, glass sculptures, and elaborate floral centrepiece created by the onsite florist. The hotel attracts a cosmopolitan clientele which at times includes heads of state and world-famous celebrities.

Amenity highlights: Guests can enjoy a range of dining, shopping, and wellness facilities on site. Three restaurants offer pan-Asian dishes in a Polynesian-themed setting, seasonal modern European cuisine, and modern French cuisine with panoramic city views. Health-conscious guests can visit the Hilton Fitness by Precor fitness centre, with its cardiovascular equipment, steam room, and sauna. Spa treatments, massage and hairdressing services are also available.

Insider tip: Many guestrooms on the upper floors, as well as the Galvin at Windows restaurant, enjoy views of the gardens of nearby Buckingham Palace. It is even possible to spot members of the Royal Family playing tennis on their own court within the gardens. In the other direction the hotel overlooks Hyde Park, which hosts several music festivals during the summer months.

Hilton London Park Lane has 453 air-conditioned guestrooms spread over 28 floors. Decor varies from contemporary style to a more traditional decor. Contemporary guestrooms are decorated in warm neutral shades with cherry wood furnishings and modern art prints. Traditional rooms feature antique-style cherry wood furnishings, gilt-framed pictures and fresh flowers.

Amenities in all guestrooms include TVs with satellite channels, pay movies, and Internet access (surcharge), desks with high-speed Internet ports (surcharge), tea and coffee making facilities, and minibars. Tiled bathrooms feature Crabtree & Evelyn toiletries, slippers and hair dryers.

DINING:
Podium - The newest venue in the hotel, offering a modern European cuisine. As well as serving the Hilton Breakfast, an à la carte menu has been introduced for lunch and dinner using ingredients sourced from specialist suppliers.

Galvin at Windows - Opened in 2006, this top-floor fine-dining restaurant offers expansive views over London in a chic and contemporary setting. Serves a seasonal menu of modern French cuisine for lunch and dinner.

Trader Vic's - Polynesian-themed restaurant featuring traditional Tiki masks and carvings, serving Pan-Asian dishes cooked in wood-fired ovens. Open daily for lunch and dinner. Sample dishes include Indonesian Rack of Lamb with Grilled Peach and Peanut Sauce, and Szechuan Butterfly Prawns with Herbs and Chillies.

POP Bar - Sleek champagne bar, designed in a contemporary Americana-themed style. Serves over 30 different champagnes, from mini bottles of POP Pink with straws to champagne cocktails. Open every evening.

Whisky Mist at Zeta - Hip bar with contemporary Feng Shui-inspired decor in neutral shades, serving cocktails made from fresh fruit and berries, and bar snacks. A noted celebrity haunt, the bar has DJs spinning the latest tunes. Open Tuesday to Saturday evenings until late.
