Built of Aberdeen granite and Portland stone, this hotel has dominated the graceful west crescent of the Aldwych since 1908, and its imposing façade is one of London's architectural icons.
Amenity highlights: The hotel's conference and event facilities include the superbly restored Palm Court, a glass-roofed marble terrace favored for fashion, theater, and society parties. Breakfast is served daily amid the Ionic columns and palatial surroundings of the Minstrel dining room.
Insider tip: The famous West End has more than 40 theaters, but the oldest and most historic is the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, just 1 block from this hotel. More than 300 years old, "the Lane" was originally a playhouse. Today it's London's most glamorous stage for blockbuster musicals. Tours take place four times daily, and include the regal lobbies, the vast auditorium, and the antique under-stage machinery.
