What to expect: Six Victorian terraced houses are joined together to create this six-floored, white-stucco Bayswater hotel with its Travertino marble lobby. The hotel caters to families and couples at the weekend and to business travelers during the week.

Insider tip: Many of London's Victorian squares have private gardens, open only to residents of the surrounding houses.
